Nicholas Diacos

Nicholas has practiced as a banking and finance lawyer in Australia, Papua New Guinea, Oman, the UAE and Saudi Arabia for 26 years in a broad range of corporate, banking and finance transactions. He holds a BA LLB (1981) from the University of New South Wales and is admitted in New South Wales, Western Australia, Queensland and Papua New Guinea. He is also a committee member and one of the founders of the Australian Business Group of Saudi Arabia.

Nicholas has expertise in project corporate, property and Islamic finance, securitization, and corporate/ commercial law.

Nicholas has written and/or presented numerous papers on finance and corporate law in Australia, Asia, Papua New Guinea, and the Middle East.

In the Middle East, Nicholas was the editor of, and a contributor to, The Essential Business Law Guide to Saudi Arabia published in 2009. This was the first publication of its kind and has been translated into Japanese and Italian. He also co-authored “Saudi Arabia: Governing Law and Dispute Resolution Provisions for Commercial Agreements”, published in Mondad on 19 March 2010.

He has presented numerous seminars in Australia, Asia and the Middle East. In Saudi Arabia and the UAE, these include, presentations on the legal aspects of doing business in Saudi Arabia, in Riyadh, Dubai and by webinair for Austrade and chairing the inaugural Legal Week General Counsel Roundtable in Abu Dhabi in 2011.
