Dr. Maher El-Seddawy

Dr. Seddawy has been working as a legal consultant with the Law Firm of Salah Al-Hejailan, Riyadh since 2000, where he advises on Islamic Shari'a law matters, as well as on government and private contracts.

From 1987 to 2000, Dr. Seddawy acted as legal advisor to the Saudi Fund for Development (the "SFD"), where he gained significant experience in negotiating and drafting FIDIC and financing contracts for the SFD.

From 1982 to 1986, Dr. Seddawy was Visiting Professor at the Shari'a and Law Faculty of the Sana'a University, Yemen. During the same period, Dr. Seddawy acted as Visiting Legal Consultant to the Ministry of Works, the Ministry of Social Affairs & Labor and the Ministry of Supply in Yemen, as well as Visiting Legal Consultant to the Yemeni Public Corporation for Grain where he assisted in the drafting of various laws and regulations for these entities.

Dr. Seddawy is also author of a number of publications:

  • Definition of the concept of confession or declaration and its authenticity in the Islamic Shari'a (2002).
  • Foreign Capital Investment Law and Implementing Regulations of the Saudi General Investment Authority - a new approach by the Saudi Government to eliminate obstacles facing investment flow to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (2001).
  • The legal effects of the preliminary sale contract of real estate (2001).
  • The acquisition of real estate by prescription (2001).
  • The legislative development of the right of foreigners to acquire real estates and lands in Egypt (2001).
  • The legality of the premature termination of a commercial agency agreement (distributorship) between a foreign company and a national commercial agent (2000).
  • Rules governing the participation of the Arab Fund for Economical and Social Development in the capital of private sector projects under the Foundation Agreement establishing the Fund (2000).
  • The development of Shari'a regulations and judicial practice in the light of codification of the Islamic Shari'a Rules (2000).
